Just want to chill out?

Hey, I'm Matt. It's an appropriate name for a yoga teacher although don't worry. I never thought I'd enjoy this sort of thing, either. 🙏 ❤️

"Matt's classes are often hilarious and always accessible. Still, his commitment to yoga as a discipline is obvious and infectious."

A client said this!

"OMG! Just got out the shower. That was AMAZING!! I feel sooo much better and more relaxed!! Your approach was so gentle, fun and engaging! Thank you! Looking forward to next week!"

Another client, via text.

"I have never laughed so hard while exercising."

Yes, people actually say this stuff…

And here’s some brain food for your yogi’s soul… 🧘🏼‍♂️🧠

Yoga For Non-Attachment

Yoga For Non-Attachment

Yoga, for me, is about balancing an acceptance of things as they are with an awareness of our desire for them to be different.

Why On Earth Would Anyone Try to Run 100 Miles?

Why On Earth Would Anyone Try to Run 100 Miles?

A former high school friend of mine, Ed, ran 68 miles this past weekend. He was shooting for 100, in an ultra-running event in New Zealand.  Why on earth would anybody want to do that? Like high school friends tend to, Ed and I go back about 25 years. He was the first...

What’s Yoga Matt all about?

Balancing out toxic masculinity

The practice of yoga, for me, means unlearning toxic lessons about masculinity and learning new, healthier lessons about taking care of myself. It’s taught me to balance out my moods and reactions, and the physical practice on the mat, along with contemplating the various aspects of mind, have brought me a new sense of calm confidence, that I’m enough.

Heavy and light

I find that a sense of humor and just being myself, as I teach, is the best way to make the classes accessible to a wide range of people. So many of us suffer in silence with depression and other pressures of life, but I’ve found yoga really helps.

It's not a competition

So many of us don’t start yoga because we’re worried we’re inflexible, that others are better than we are. But we all just have to start where we’re at, and I make sure my classes aren’t competitive. As one of my wise teachers says, “there are plenty of jerks out there who can do the splits.”

What's the worst that could happen from trying a yoga class?

Three years ago, a gracious colleague at work taught me yoga for free. I was skeptical at first but the practice changed my life. And since then, I’ve trained to become a yoga teacher. If you’re interested in chatting about yoga, I’m delighted to work around your schedule and budget.
